Details
Join Paula, Kim, and Steve this September for a month of fast feet, uplifting music, and high-energy dancing as we dive into the exciting world of collegiate shag, a lively partner dance that emerged during the swing era of the 1930s and is known for its playful feel, quick footwork, and infectious energy. Danced to upbeat jazz and swing music, collegiate shag is all about having fun, connecting with your partner, and letting the music drive your movement. This month's block is aimed at improvers. You should have attended at least one previous block of Collegiate Shag, feel confident with the basics, and be able to dance fluently through a full song. Throughout the month, we will work on building your confidence in key partner dancing skills such as leading and following, rhythm, connection and musicality. You will learn how to adapt your dancing to fit the music, play with more complex moves, and develop your own style of collegiate dance. The course will span 5 weeks. Lessons are 75 minutes long and begin at 7:30 pm. An Access to Dance coupon code is available, giving a £12 discount for those who would otherwise be unable to afford to attend. Use the ACCESS2DANCE code at the checkout.
