Blues At The 'Bridge

Blues at the ‘Bridge is a welcoming summer weekend festival in Cambridge that brings dancers and music lovers together for inspiring blues classes, live music and relaxed social vibes. Now in its fourth year, the event features international teachers—Gastón “Gas” Fernández from Madrid and Maria from Vilnius—leading workshops that help dancers explore technique, history and musicality in blues dance, alongside plenty of time to connect with the community and enjoy the elusive UK summer sun. Alongside the classes we'll make the most of socialising together with picnics and garden games, plus a Sunday roast dinner shared on the terrace at The Granta pub.

We will welcome three fantastic live acts: the high-energy Queen Bee Blues Band kicking off the music, the Dust Me Down Blues Band bringing powerful roots-driven blues on Saturday night, and guitarist and singer Dave Foster closing out the weekend with an outdoor session overlooking the River Cam.

Hosting: You'll be asked if you require hosting for this event. We will prioritise those who say that they need hosting to attend, then move down to those who would like hosting but do not need it to attend. We aim to provide updates to everyone before the end of March on their hosting status.

Class levels: Classes are mixed level, however in order for everyone to get the most out of the opportunity to learn from our amazing international teachers we expect you to be comfortable with single time, step touch basics, all four holds and familiar with shuffle rhythms. There is no minimum level for the socials.

About Tickets:

• Full Weekend (£120) provides access to all classes and socials across the weekend.

• Social Pass (£55) provides access to all socials across the weekend

• Roast Dinner (£25) this ticket pays for your roast dinner. It includes a main and a dessert. It must be bought as well as your social pass/weekend ticket to join the roast dinner. You will be contacted closer to the time to choose your meal.

• Sunday Dinner and Dancing (£35) this ticket pays for your roast dinner and provides access to the Sunday social at the Granta. You should not buy this ticket if you already have a social pass or weekend pass.

• Single night tickets will be on sale closer to the date, subject to availability.

Discounts and Carer/Parent passes:

• There is a discount code: ACCESSTODANCEBATB which provides £30 off the weekend ticket. This is a limited use code and is first come first serve. Please use this code if this discount will help you attend the event if you otherwise could not.

• We welcome individuals with caring/parent responsibilities to share their ticket with another who also have caring/parent responsibilities. Please buy one ticket and upon registration you'll be asked if you plan to use the ticket as a carers/parent pass and if so, who you'll share it with. This ticket assumes that only one person of the couple attends the festival at a time but how you divide the festival is up to you.
